Pride is the so called ‘original sin’. An idea implying rules to follow and a restriction on self expression. This look is a representation of that.
Furthermore the look is HEAVY, in visual language as well as physical weight. Making the wearer feel weighed down, restricted and forced to confront the weight of the idea of the ‘sin’.

Straight Jacket Fitting features a digital print extracted from a painting I did of a death’s head hawkmoth. A physical symbol the general theory of the ‘deadly’ sins.
The straight jacket idea is based around the ‘original sin’ concept of Pride seen in Dante’s Purgatorio and how this can restrict one from ascending to further levels of Purgatory

The Reconstruction coat features patchwork details of up-cycled wool jackets, pinstripe velvet and brushed wool.
The patchwork represents the idea of reconstruction of the mind. The theory of the custom shoulder pad featuring coat, couples with the idea of being proud and confident in one’s appearance. Questioning the duality of the so called ‘sin’ of pride vs the benefits it can have on one’s psyche.
The construction of the coat also features strong internal canvassing symbolising a strength in one’s self that the concept of ‘pride’ can bring.

The Warped Mirror pants further the proud concept of dressing well, as the wool tailored pant can be a representation of a sophisticated presentation.
The pants feature grey silk embroidery, the motifs are warped versions of my own face. Providing a mirror to myself, symbolising the idea of distorted self worth in the face of the concept of pride.
